Photographs and Decisions made by Christopher Hiltz

Christopher Hiltz’s photographs range from the documentation of everyday minutiae to an abstract expressionism achieved through extended exposure and camera shake. Taking a reprieve from his regular gig as an event photographer, Hiltz works without any preordained shot list in mind. Influenced by Gerhard Richter’s aesthetic dichotomy, Hiltz veers between a sharp formal realism and abstraction.

With “Whenever Ago,” his first solo show, Hiltz’s decisions and intentions will be on display. In the days before The Believe Inn show he will leave photographs throughout the city, creating unexpected free art for the taking and fulfilling his desire to represent his own photographic experiences for whoever find these photos, wherever they may end up.
